Technical & Web3
Technical & Web3 help and FAQs from Moneda on your self-custody account, stablecoins, transfers, security, and AI agent.
You don’t need any prior web3 or crypto experience to use Moneda. We designed Moneda to be a seamless experience for every user with a smartphone. Our intuitive app guides you through every step of the process, making it easy for anyone to start investing.
Moneda operates on the Base Network, a Layer 2 (L2) blockchain developed by Coinbase. This network enhances transaction speed and reduces costs, offering a more efficient experience compared to traditional Layer 1 blockchains. By leveraging the Base Network, Moneda ensures secure, scalable, and eco-friendly transactions for its users.
We chose Base because it is a trusted network, backed by Coinbase’s reputation for reliability and innovative blockchain solutions. Additionally, it’s an Ethereum-compatible blockchain, meaning that Moneda can leverage the best tooling for our blockchain and wallet infrastructure.
This seamless integration with Coinbase allows Moneda to provide a fee-free USDC and EURC onramp. When you convert U.S. dollars to USD Coin (USDC) via Coinbase, there are no fees for this conversion, enabling efficient and cost-effective access to USDC within the Moneda platform.
In addition, Base’s integration with numerous decentralised applications gives users access to a rich ecosystem of financial tools, applications, and communities, making it an ideal network for Moneda's mission.
Layer 2 refers to solutions built on top of an existing blockchain (like Ethereum) to enhance scalability and performance. L2s allow for faster transactions and lower fees while still benefiting from the security and reliability of the underlying blockchain.
No. Like all blockchain-based systems, transactions on Moneda are irreversible once confirmed. Always double-check the recipient address and amount before sending.
Stablecoins are digital assets (cryptocurrencies) whose value is pegged, or tied, to that of another currency, commodity, or financial instrument. Stablecoins are typically pegged to a fiat currency like the US dollar or euro and are designed to minimize price volatility, making them ideal for everyday payments and transfers.
Moneda supports one regulated stablecoin per currency, all on the Base network:
- USDC for US Dollar balances, issued by Circle
- EURC for Euro balances, issued by Circle
- CHFAU for Swiss Franc balances, issued by AllUnity
- CADD for Canadian Dollar balances, issued by Tetra Digital Group
- MXNB for Mexican Peso balances, issued by Bitso
In the app you just see and hold ordinary currency balances. The stablecoin is the mechanism underneath.
Not every currency is available to everyone. Some are rolled out gradually or depend on your region, so if you do not see one yet, it may not be enabled for your account or country.
EURC and USDC are both fiat-collateralized stablecoins, by which the issuer (Circle) maintains a reserve to back the number of issued stablecoins. This reserve typically consists of: • Fiat currencies: EUR and USD, respectively • Very low-risk and highly liquid bonds (eg. government bonds)
You can see the transparency reports and reserve composition for USDC and EURC on Circle's transparency website at https://www.circle.com/transparency.
USDC is a fully reserved dollar stablecoin, or digital dollar, backed 100% by highly liquid cash and cash-equivalent assets and is redeemable 1:1 for US dollars.
The majority of the USDC reserve is transparently invested in the Circle Reserve Fund (USDXX), an SEC-registered 2a-7 government money market fund.

EURC is a digital euro issued by Circle, also known as a stablecoin, and operates on several leading public blockchains. Designed to represent euros on the internet, EURC is backed 100% by euro-denominated reserves so that it's always redeemable 1:1 for EUR. EURC is one of the first fully compliant stablecoins under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. For more info, visit https://circle.com/eurc
Your APY comes from lending, not from Moneda setting a rate. When you deposit, your balance is converted into a stablecoin and supplied to Morpho, a decentralised lending protocol on Base. Borrowers there pay interest on their loans, and that interest is what you earn.
Because the rate is set by supply and demand in that market rather than by Moneda, it moves over time. Your balance compounds in real time, and the current APY is always shown in your Earnings Account.
For the higher-yield option, see the Smart Earnings Account, which spreads funds across multiple strategies instead of a single lending pool.
Partly. Moneda supports WalletConnect Pay, which lets you pay merchants in person by scanning their QR code, using your Moneda balance. You approve every payment in the app before anything is sent.
What is not supported yet is connecting your Moneda wallet to arbitrary dApps to browse, sign messages, or interact with contracts the way a general-purpose wallet does. Moneda is built around spending, earning, and transfers.
To use WalletConnect Pay, open the payment flow in the app and accept WalletConnect's terms the first time.
No. Moneda only supports the stablecoins behind its currency balances: USDC (US Dollar), EURC (Euro), CHFAU (Swiss Franc), CADD (Canadian Dollar), and MXNB (Mexican Peso). Any other cryptocurrency sent to your account will not be accessible to you.
We do this to protect users from interacting with spam or unsolicited tokens that might compromise their funds through phishing.
Availability varies by region, so a currency may not be enabled for your account or country yet. To prevent loss, always test a small transfer first when using a new wallet or exchange.
Before sending crypto to Moneda:
- Always confirm the token and the network (Base) shown in your deposit screen.
- Use only the official contracts on Base, not wrapped, bridged, or synthetic versions.
- Double-check your wallet address. Moneda addresses are specific to Base and must match exactly, with no extra spaces or typos.
Moneda supports a specific set of stablecoins on the Base network: USDC, EURC, CHFAU, CADD, and MXNB. If you sent anything else, or sent one of these on a different network, you will not be able to see or interact with it in your account.
If you sent a large amount, please reach out to us through Help Centre > Talk to Support.
Yes. Alongside US Dollar and Euro balances, Moneda supports Swiss Franc (CHF) and Canadian Dollar (CAD). Each currency is held as a regulated stablecoin on Base (USDC for USD, EURC for EUR, CHFAU for CHF, CADD for CAD), but in the app you just see and hold CHF and CAD balances. Each currency can roll out gradually and may depend on your region, so if you don't see CHF or CAD yet, it may not be enabled for your account or country. Fiat deposit and withdrawal rails also vary by currency.
CHFAU is the stablecoin behind your Swiss Franc balance on Moneda. In the app you simply see and hold a CHF balance. The stablecoin is the mechanism underneath, the same way EUR balances are held as EURC.
It is issued by AllUnity, a regulated e-money institution authorised by Germany's financial regulator BaFin, and it is classified as an e-money token under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). AllUnity is backed by DWS, the asset management arm of Deutsche Bank, along with Flow Traders and Galaxy Digital.
What that means for you:
- CHFAU is backed 1:1 by Swiss francs, held as CHF cash or high quality liquid assets denominated in CHF.
- Reserves sit in segregated accounts at regulated credit institutions, kept separate from the issuer's own operating funds.
- Holders have a statutory right to redeem at par value at any time.
CHFAU runs on Base, which is the network Moneda uses.
CHF is rolled out gradually and may depend on your region, so it may not be enabled for your account or country yet.
CADD is the stablecoin behind your Canadian Dollar balance on Moneda. In the app you simply see and hold a CAD balance. The stablecoin is the mechanism underneath, the same way EUR balances are held as EURC.
It is issued by Tetra Digital Group, and was the first Canadian dollar stablecoin issued by a regulated Canadian financial institution. It is approved by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance.
What that means for you:
- CADD is backed 1:1 by Canadian dollars.
- The funds backing it are held in trust and dedicated solely to redemption, with reserves at Canadian financial institutions including tier one banks.
CADD runs on Base, which is the network Moneda uses. Tetra's backers include Shopify, Wealthsimple, Shakepay, ATB Financial, and National Bank of Canada.
CAD is rolled out gradually and may depend on your region, so it may not be enabled for your account or country yet.
MXNB is the stablecoin behind your Mexican Peso balance on Moneda. In the app you simply see and hold a MXN balance. The stablecoin is the mechanism underneath, the same way EUR balances are held as EURC.
It is issued by Juno, a Bitso company that operates independently of Bitso. Juno is an authorised electronic payment institution under Mexico's Fintech Law.
What that means for you:
- MXNB is backed 1:1 by Mexican pesos.
- Reserves are held in safeguarded accounts at licensed financial institutions in Mexico.
- Backing is verified by monthly attestations from an independent auditor.
MXNB runs on Base, which is the network Moneda uses.
MXN is currently available to users in Mexico. If you do not see a MXN account yet, it may not be enabled for your account or country.
